Wilmington's Favorite Breakfast Since 1977
Hand-crafted omelets with eggs blended to silky perfection. Southern biscuits, fluffy waffles, and a welcome that never gets old.
"That place where everybody knows your name."
— Bob BaumanOur Story
Something special happens inside Goody Goody. Walk through our door and you're not a customer โ you're family. That's been true since 1977, ever since the late Roscoe "R.B." Mayhew and his wife Ida brought this little omelet house to life on Market Street.
Generations of Wilmington families have made Goody Goody part of their traditions. Loyal regulars โ doctors, truckers, EMT crews, filmmakers, and neighbors of all kinds โ fill our stools and booths for breakfast and lunch, seven days a week. Whether it's your first time or your thousandth, you'll always leave with a full stomach and a warm heart.
We're proudly featured in the community, and even the film crew for The Summer I Turned Pretty found their way to our counter.
The Secret
We don't make omelets like anyone else. Before the eggs ever touch the griddle, they're blended in a milkshake blender โ whipped to an airy, silky consistency that creates the signature cloud-like texture our regulars drive across town for.
Topped with our one-of-a-kind homemade Spanish sauce, or loaded with your favorite fillings, every omelet is cooked to order, right in front of you. Sit at the counter and watch the magic happen.

What People Say
"My absolute A-1 favorite breakfast spot of all time. It's a MUST every time I visit Wilmington, and it NEVER disappoints. The omelets are fluffy, the coffee is gross in the best way, the biscuits are second-to-none โ and they are GENEROUS with portions."โ Joe Peluso, Google Review
"We absolutely love this place. Food is always excellent. Cash only but they do have an ATM there. Sometimes there may be a line outside but the food is that good. Highly recommend!"
"My wife and I love looking for little 'hole in the wall' type restaurants. Goody Goody is a real gem. Family run for 48 years, these guys have it right. If you like fluffy omelets, this place has them."
"I was honestly skeptical when I saw the diner from outside but my expectations were blown away. Now I understand why there was a line out the door. The food was amazing, cooked right there in front of you."
"Don't waffle, get to Goody Goody for some good Southern eatin'! Located in Wilmington, NC, close to the airport and a stone's throw from Michael Jordan's childhood home. A true Wilmington classic."
"Excellent food. Fluffiest omelet I've ever seen โ mushroom and cheese with plenty of mushrooms. I'm pretty sure the biscuits were made fresh in the morning. The fruit was fresh, not canned. Every detail is right."
"76 years old... been everywhere โ Honolulu, New York, Raleigh, L.A., San Francisco, Cuba... The BEST omelet I've ever had. Hands down. A+ โ do it!"
"The food is amazing but the service is better. We were greeted like family as soon as we entered. The servers were genuinely kind โ you could tell they love what they do."
"Wow. Wow. Just go there. Like eating at Grandma's house. Best coffee AND food in Wilmington, NC. And SUPER NICE PEOPLE. Let's just say family!!!"
"Food was amazing! Portion size was more than enough! Omelets were so fluffy and full of goodies! Pancakes were perfect and sweet, even without syrup. Grits were perfect and buttery."
From Our Kitchen
Our Legacy
Co-founder Ida Mayhew gave Goody Goody its soul. Her warmth, dedication, and genuine love for every person who walked through that door turned a breakfast spot into a community institution.
"Everything they've got here is the best. And they'll fix it anyway you want it. And that is what makes the Goody Goody worth the wait."โ Larry Teachey, longtime regular
Ida Imogene Queen Mayhew (March 28, 1928 – September 18, 2017) was the heart of Goody Goody for 40 years. Alongside her husband Roscoe, whom she was married to for 56 years, she built something that outlasted them both โ a place where strangers became regulars and regulars became family. Her favorite hobby, those who knew her say, was simply serving people. Known best for her beautiful smile, her kindness, and her love for all people, Ida's spirit lives on in every omelet that comes out of that kitchen.
